The recognition also marks a historic moment for Karla Sofía Gascón, the film’s star, as the first out trans actor ever nominated. Elliot Page, nominated for Juno in 2008, achieved the honor prior to transitioning.

However, Conclave director Edward Berger, whose All Quiet on the Western Front swept awards two years ago, was notably snubbed for Best Director. While Ralph Fiennes leads the acting honors for the film, Isabella Rossellini’s nomination for Supporting Actress stands as the only other acting nod.
On the brighter side, A Complete Unknown delivered unexpected nominations, including Edward Norton as Pete Seeger and Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, alongside Timothée Chalamet in the leading role.
