Penalty In Inter Milan 2-1 Fiorentina Serie A Clash ‘Not Punishable
Italian refereeing expert Luca Marelli believes that the handball penalty awarded in today’s Serie A match between Inter Milan and Fiorentina was “doubtful” and “not punishable.”
Speaking on Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInter1908, Marelli shared his thoughts on the controversial decision.
Fiorentina were awarded a penalty late in the first half at the San Siro after Inter wingback Matteo Darmian was penalized for handball.
The incident occurred when Fiorentina defender Robin Gosens directed a header towards goal, and the ball struck Darmian’s wrist as he was unable to move his arm out of the way.
Initially, referee Federico La Penna did not signal for a penalty. However, after strong appeals from the Fiorentina players, the decision was ultimately given.
