Trump Removes Multiple National Security Advisors, Reports Say

US media outlets, including CNN, reported on Thursday that President Donald Trump has dismissed several national security officials. According to The New York Times, about six staff members from the National Security Council (NSC) were let go, while others were reassigned, following a meeting between Trump and far-right activist Laura Loomer.

Among those fired were David Feith, a senior director overseeing technology and national security, and Brian Walsh, a senior director handling intelligence matters, Reuters reported. The exact reasons for the firings were unclear, though unnamed sources told Reuters that concerns about their vetting and backgrounds played a role.

This move comes amid a scandal involving the NSC, where a journalist from The Atlantic was accidentally included in a chat on the Signal app where officials discussed airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Regarding the meeting, Trump’s discussion with Loomer reportedly lasted around 30 minutes and included National Security Adviser Mike Waltz. Vice President JD Vance, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and Presidential Personnel Office Director Sergio Gor were also said to have attended.

Trump confirmed the meeting while aboard Air Force One, calling Loomer "a great patriot" and mentioning that she made recommendations for staffing. However, he did not clarify whether she suggested the firings of NSC staff.

Loomer, a far-right conspiracy theorist known for controversial statements—including claims that the 9/11 attacks were an inside job—confirmed the meeting on social media. She stated that she presented "opposition research" to Trump and emphasized the importance of strong vetting for national security purposes.

“I will continue working hard to support his agenda and continue reiterating the importance of STRONG VETTING, for the sake of protecting the President of the United States of America, and our national security,” Loomer wrote. She also stated that she would not disclose further details out of respect for Trump and the privacy of the Oval Office.
